This course explores some alternative, non-traditional strategies for creating excellent overall health, mental health, and recovering from health problems, including treating ADHD symptoms naturally, and the trap of substance use.
In this section, we will present a scholarly definition of ADHD, demystify some of the terminology around the diagnosis, learn about the three types of ADHD, and examine the causes and risk factors of the condition.
We have basically two camps when it comes to treating ADHD. Let’s call them conventional and holistic. Another camp has been developing, gathering momentum – integrative. In the next few sections, we'll take a look at each of these approaches, including pros and cons of each.
It would be remiss not to include a section on how ADHD and addiction occur with each other and what some of the special issues might be.
One last thought – please remember to take good care of yourself first, as you will be in a much better place to take care of others if you are doing it as a fully, healthily, functioning person.
